Child and Adult Care Food Program

The Child Care Choices Child Care Food Program can help you with meal cost reimbursement for nutritious meals and snacks.

The Child Care Food Program is a U.S.D.A. program to help you provide nutritious, balanced meals and snacks for health and growth in children 12 and younger. You will be reimbursed for nutritious meals you serve to your daycare children.

Through the Child Care Choices Food Program, you will receive training, ideas for meals, support with questions and concerns and the opportunity to form friendships with others in the child care business.

The Child Care Choices Food Program is a part of the National School Lunch Act which seeks to provide a healthy nutritional base for all children regardless of income, race, national origin, gender, age or disability.

There are two ways to qualify to participate in CACFP.  If you are a Type B certified provider you are eligible to participate.  If you are not you may become Alternately Approved by arranging a health and fire inspection of your home and a background check (includes fingerprinting everyone over 18 years old in your household).

Effective July 1, 2011 - June 30, 2012, the standard rates for reimbursement are:

Tier I rates

Tier II rates

breakfast $1.24

breakfast $0.45

lunch and supper $2.32

lunch and supper $1.40

supplement (snack) $0 .69

supplement (snack) $0.19

If you are on the federal food program, you may be reimbursed for only one meal and two snacks or one snack and two meals each day.

Provider reimbursements vary from $500 to $20 per month.

If you are interested, call CCC and a representative of Child Care Choices will come to your home to show you the basic guidelines for this U.S.D.A. program. Then, you just keep daily attendance records and meal count records, along with your food menu. You are also required to participate in certain training opportunities.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR WOULD LIKE TO SIGN UP FOR THIS PROGRAM, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL KATE JOHNSEN, LYNN RATLIFF OR KELLY FLORA  AT CHILD CARE CHOICES AT 937-667-1799  or 866-667-4799.  We serve Miami, Montgomery, Shelby, Clark and Darke counties.
