HEALTH AND SAFETY IN FAMILY DAY CARE - OFFERED from 7:00 - 9:15 p.m. at the CCC office in Tipp City.

NOTE - REVISED DATES!  

Health and Safety in Family Daycare is required for all type B home day care providers.  Those registered with Child Care Choices are required to take the trainings within the first year of becoming registered.  Providers seeking certification with Miami County Job and Family Services are required to take the trainings before becoming certified, but not more than six months before.

April 19, 2010 Communicable Disease - Learn to recognize communicable diseases, the causes and prevention methods.
First Aid - Learn the basics of first aid.
For family child care providers only.
April 26, 2010 Home Safety - Plan for safety in storage areas, equipment, emergencies, outdoors, and transportation.
Managing Children’s Behavior - Learn how children grow and develop, how to set up your home, and how to respond to children having a difficult day.
For family child care providers only.
May 3, 2010 Child Abuse - Learn to recognize abuse, what and when to report, and whom to call when you suspect a child has been injured or seriously mistreated. 
For family child care providers only.  This workshop time is 7-8:30 pm.
May 10, 2010 Food Safety - Learn valuable tips for storing and cooking foods safely.
Nutrition - Learn what and how to feed children from infant through preschool age.

Infant Toddler Guidelines Training - Step Up To Quality

Location:  Riverside School, 1625 N. Troy-Sidney Rd, Troy, OH

March 4, 2010 Module 4 - Social Development
Through lecture, video, group discussion, & small group activity, based upon Ohio’s I/T Guidelines, participants will gain a better understanding of how the connection of infants and toddlers to adults and children around them shape their interactions, skills, and abilities.  Care giving strategies to support social development will also be shared.
March 11, 2010 Module 2 - Physical Health
Through lecture, video, group discussion, & small group activity, based upon Ohio’s I/T Guidelines, participants will learn how children’s physical health impacts development. Care giving strategies to help young children achieve optimal physical health while allowing children to explore and connect with the world around them will be discussed.
March 25, 2010 Module 3 - Emotional Development
Through lecture, video, group discussion, & small group activity, based upon Ohio’s I/T Guidelines, participants will further deepen their understanding of the emotional development of infants and toddlers, including the importance of attachment, and how children develop self awareness and self regulation. Participants will discuss how this knowledge can be translated into emotionally supportive care giving practices.
April 1, 2010 Module 5 - Motor Development
Through lecture, video, group discussion, & small group activity, based upon Ohio’s I/T Guidelines, participants will study typical, as well as variations in, small, large motor and oral motor development. Care giving strategies to enhance young children’s motor skills, exploration and learning through movement will be discussed.
Ten (10) hours of Infant Toddler Guidelines are mandatory before providers can take any other Infant Toddler trainings or if teaching in a split class, before providers can take an Learning Content Standards trainings.  The overview is now integrated into the trainings.

Please check the dates you wish to attend, enclose a check or money order, and mail to Child Care Choices, 814 West Main Street, Tipp City, OH  45371.  Please note that registration is by mail only.  Register early; space is limited.  . All of the required trainings are held from 6:30-9:30 pm.  CPR is on a Saturday from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm.

Child Care Choices  Office, 814 W. Main Street, Tipp City.  Take the Tipp City exit from I-75.  Drive east (towards Tipp City) on Route 571 / Main Street.  The CCC office is located on the right side of the street in a beige building with other offices.  The CCC office is downstairs.
